Brand Safety for channel owners

Advertisers who care about where their ads appear can switch on Brand Safety Shield. This page explains what that means for you as a channel owner: what you see before you accept, what happens during the run, and how a clean record earns your channel the brand-safe tag.

The same on every plan

Shield-on bookings, pauses, appeals and the brand-safe tag work the same way whatever plan the channel owner holds.

Before you accept a Shield-on booking

A booking request with Shield on shows the categories the advertiser's brand avoids. You never see their own keywords or websites. If you would rather not run it, decline it; declining a booking costs you nothing.

During the run

If the advertiser's plan includes live watch, posts you publish close to the ad are checked against the advertiser's profile. Their words are deleted within the hour once checked; only the verdict and a link are kept.

If a post next to the ad matches, the ad is paused and removed. You keep the share of the payout for the time the ad was up, and your reliability score does not change: a pause is not a delivery failure. You are told why and you can appeal. The notice names the content category the advertiser asked not to appear next to, with a link to the post. If the post matched only the advertiser's own keywords or websites, it reads "One of the advertiser's private rules" and carries no link: an advertiser's private words are never shown to you, nor which of your posts matched them. See Live watch and pauses.

Your channels on the Brand Safety page

On a Channel owner account the Brand Safety page lists your listed channels under Your channels: whether each carries the brand-safe tag and since when, how many days of watched or scanned history it has, and, for a channel without the tag, What was flagged, and why: the date, whether a pre-booking scan or the live watch found it, the category, links to the posts that are in it, and what to do. Only what moves the tag is listed: a category the platform never allows. You never see which brand scanned your channel, an advertiser's own keywords or websites, the categories it chose to avoid, or the posts that matched only those.

Profiles, scans and the live watch are for Advertiser accounts and are not shown to you. Scans your account ran before choosing its role stay readable (Your dashboard by role).

The brand-safe tag

A channel earns the brand-safe tag with a clean record over 60 days: in that time it has been scanned or watched, and nothing was found in a category the platform never allows (such as gambling, adult content or scams), neither by a scan nor next to a running ad. The tag shows on your listing and your public channel page, for example Brand-safe Β· no incidents, and it is checked every night.

Such a finding takes the tag off; it comes back once the channel has a clean record over that time again. An advertiser's own blocklist (its keywords, websites and the categories it chose to avoid) never moves the tag: one advertiser's scan with its own rules cannot take it away.
